All maps and photographs, including digital map, which are produced by the Lands Department, are the intellectual property and asset of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It is a Government policy to protect all the copyright of these intellectual property and asset. Therefore the data that are distributed to members of the public should not be disseminated, in part or in whole or in whatever forms or media, to a third party.

The Lands Department has established the intellectual property and copyright policy and developed a royalty-charging scheme. Royalty charges will be levied against firms and enterprises who reproduce our mapping products for commercial, trading and business purposes.
