The Legislation Section of the Survey and Mapping Office supports the Land Survey Authority in administering the Land Survey Ordinance (Cap. 473). Pursuant to Section 3 of the Ordinance, the Director of Lands is the Land Survey Authority. The Director of Lands has delegated all his functions under the Ordinance to the Principal Government Land Surveyor of the Survey and Mapping Office with effect from 1 September 1995 ( G.N. 3505 refers).
The Legislation Section mainly engages in processing plans deposited by authorized land surveyors under section 30(4) of the Land Survey Ordinance, processing application for registration as an authorized land surveyor and establishment and maintenance of a register of authorized land surveyors. The register is available to any person for inspection free of charge at the Legislation Section during office hours.
