Land Information Centre

Development and Support Section

The Development and Support Section is responsible for:

1. Providing system administration and support of the Land Information System (LIS) and other computer systems to District Survey Offices and project sections in SMO, and other sections in Land Administrative Office of the Lands Department.

The key features of the LIS are as follows:

  • Centralizing the existing land administration, topographic and raster datasets into a geospatial database with new data model design;
  • Server-based computing with terminal user access;
  • Streamlining the internal operation and integrating with other relevant computer systems into a centralized application platform;
  • Facilitating decision support for Land Administration Office through spatial analyses and queries on the centralized and comprehensive datasets.
 
2. Rendering professional advice and assistance to other Government Departments and Bureaux to establish their departmental Geographic Information System (GIS). For example, providing GIS advisory and support services to the Census and Statistics Department, Government Property Agency, Fire Services Department, Registration and Election Office, Civil Engineering and Development Department, Buildings Department, Planning Department and etc.
