Land Information Centre of Survey and Mapping Office was formed in 1989. The function of the Centre was to establish a Computerized Land Information System (CLIS). The traditional paper maps and land records were converted into digital form, so that the capability of map data is extended to different fields and Geographical Information system (GIS) application. Upon the completion of the conversion exercise, the Centre now takes emphasis on the maintenance, quality control and enhancement of geographical data, implementation of CLIS, research and development of new GIS application, data supply and marketing.
