SMO undertakes colour aerial photography periodically at different altitudes. SMO also undertakes false colour infrared aerial photography and oblique aerial photography occasionally upon requests. Copies of these aerial photographs in the form of duplicate and enlargement are obtainable on order. The recommended enlargement ratio of most aerial photographs is up to 8 times depending on the quality of the images.
SMO maintains two Aerial Photo Libraries for inspection of aerial photographs by the public. They are located at the headquarters at 23/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, Hong Kong and at District Survey Office/Kowloon at 10/F, Yau Ma Tei Car Park Building, 250 Shanghai Street, Kowloon. Digital images of aerial photographs are also available for viewing at kiosks of the Map Archives Retrieval System at all SMO Map Sales Centres.
SMO keeps aerial photographs from 1924 to the present. Members of the public are welcome to visit the Libraries or Map Sales Centres to search and/or place order for the aerial photographs they want. Please click here to access Download Area for free download of aerial photographs.

Digital Aerial Photo (DAP)
The Digital Aerial Photo (Series: DAP), which is one of the SMO digital map products, is the digital format of an aerial photograph produced from its original aerial film (taken by Lands Department in Year 1963 and thereafter) by means of scanning at a resolution of 1,800dpi or better with a high-precision photogrammetric scanner. The DAP is suitable for photogrammetric measurement. In purchasing the DAP, the relevant camera calibration report, if available, would be provided .
The DAP is provided in TIFF Format and the delivering media is DVD. The file size of Black & White and Colour aerial photograph images is about 300MB and 1.1GB respectively. Customers can order the DAP at the Hong Kong Map Service website.
